Q: What makes the Saturday Night
Swing Dance special?
A: We have more fun! Swing dancing dates from the Vaudeville era, a period when it was OK to be yourself and have fun! For this reason, we concentrate on keeping the music ROCKIN' with great jump blues and early rock and roll from the 1940's and 1950's. It's music that will lift your spirits and keep you dancing! Many local dance groups have a tight-knit "country club" atmosphere that makes it hard for beginners to break into. But not us! We encourage people of all dance levels to mingle, get to know each other, and have fun—and that includes beginners! Our venue is in a church loft space that has a "1950's high school sock hop" feel that brightens the warm, sociable atmosphere of our dance even further! Atop this, when you come to the Saturday Night Swing Dance, you also receive a coupon for FREE ADMISSION to the legendary Skylark Lounge, where we will keep the party going with live dance music and even more dancing! The Skylark Lounge is Denver's main hub for all things vintage, and keep a busy calendar of talented vintage-themed musical performers in a fun, nostalgic atmosphere. The moral of the story is—"Why dance if you're not having fun?" And that's what the Saturday Night Swing Dance is all about: Having Fun. Join us at the First Avenue Presbyterian Church on the First Saturday of the Month, and bring friends too! |
