We will then have one final Grand Finale Show at the Skylark Lounge on Saturday, January 3, 2009, with live music by David Gasten & the City Kids and the David Booker Trio (see above for details).

Our goal with the Saturday Night Swing Dance was to be a new, friendly, fun venue that would bring swing dancers of various styles and skill levels in the Denver, CO area together.  But, we have always operated on the concept that the Saturday Night Swing Dance is only here to fill a need and satisfy a demand.  If the demand changed, then we would respond appropriately, even if that meant shutting down the dance. We noticed that the nature in the demand for the dance was changing to the point that in order to meet the demand properly, the model for filling the demand would also need to change.  Therefore, the old model for filling the demand (i.e. the dance) has been replaced with a completely different model, and our energies have shifted into building and promoting that new model.

This is where our house swing band David Gasten and the City Kids comes in.  So far, the band has really been lighting up the venues where they play, putting on a great show and keeping the party going and the people dancing.  Therefore, David will be focusing his efforts on managing and furthering David Gasten and the City Kids’ growing momentum.  If you would like to stay up with what David Gasten and the City Kids are doing and where they are playing, email dávîdgãstèn(a)yåhøø,çöm and he will keep you updated.

DJ Wes met his fiancée Jillian through the Saturday Night Swing Dance, and the two will hopefully marry next spring.  Wes will be concentrating on preparing for that and will hopefully find time to continue DJing at Denver swing dances in the Denver area from time to time.  Wes will also be DJ'ing and running sound at many of David Gasten and the City Kids' shows.  Email Wes at wes.hofmann???gmail!!!c0m for more on that.

In the meantime, we have our grand finale show in January 3rd and many more shows from David Gasten and the City Kids on the way.  We will be working on a new website for the band and will post the link to the new site here when it is launched.  All that to say, a lot more swingin' fun is on the way!
